What Can You Do After You Are Fluent in Turkish?

Because of the country’s geographical location, trade, and influence on the neighboring countries, Turkish is one of the most learned languages online. But what do you want to do after you are fluent in Turkish? Have you ever thought about that?

Erkek: Arkadaşlarınla Türkçe konuşmak da çok cazip.
Kadın: Evet, zaten şimdi de konuşuyorum. Tam olarak akıcı konuşmak için ana dili Türkçe olan insanlarla iletişim kurmak gerekiyor. Bu sayede erkek arkadaşımla daha iyi konuşacağım. O beni ailesiyle tanıştıracak.
Erkek: Ah.. Bu senin için güzel bir motivasyon.

As you see, devlet üniversitesi has a suffix and özel üniversite does not have. As previously mentioned, devlet üniversitesi is a noun compound but özel üniversite is an adjective compound. That’s why devlet üniversitesi has -(s)I as a suffix.

S, is one of the buffer letters preventing the vowel repetition. You can’t see two or more consecutive vowels in Turkish words but only in borrowings. In order to prevent two vowels in a row, a buffer letter is attached. In this case, it’s “s”.

Devlet üniversitesi is a noun compound and “bir” or any of the quantifiers can not come between nouns. However, for “özel bir üniversite” is perfectly correct because it consists of adjectives and one noun.

The sequence of adjectives changes the meaning but in this example, there’s no such a difference between “bir özel üniversite”
And “özel bir üniversite”.
